This week, the Moscone Center in San Francisco was the scene of a virus outbreak which affected close to 70 people.

According to the city’s public health officials, the incident was caused by a norovirus, a type of medical virus which easily spreads by touching dirty surfaces.

The Moscone Center hosted a weeklong conference and out of the 70 people infected, 67 were staff workers and 3 were attendees. None of the victims were hospitalized.

The symptoms usually dissappear over a two-day period and are known to include vomiting, diarrhea, cramps, low-grade fever and aches. The virus is easily transmitted through contact and the hands must be carefully washed in order to avoid contamination.
